You will visit a Botanical Garden with over 200 different species of rainforest plants within a 35-minute ride upriver. Learn from the in-depth explanations about the processing, uses and benefits of these traditional indigenous plants, including fascinating native medicinal uses. Enjoy a 30-minute canoe trip on a small lake and look for wildlife – turtles, giant river otters, sungrebes, nightjars and herons. Go on an expedition, designed by the National Geographic Society, to learn all about the history of the remarkable and unique Madre de Dios region. All this is going to be a part of your amazing nature experience.
In the middle of Peru’s Amazon, in the Tambopata Reserve is the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion Lodge, a perfect place for nature-lovers enthusiasts searching to experience the thrill of exploring the Amazon Rainforest in a short period of time.
35 minutes from the lodge, you will visit a Botanical Garden with over 200 different species, learn about the wonders and benefits of these rare plants, including the medicinal uses. Enjoy a 30-minute canoe trip on a small lake, encountering turtles, giant river otters, sun grebes, nightjars and herons. Take a tour of Madre de Dios Region history exhibit organized by the National Geographic Society and so much more.
Day 1
INKATERRA LOUNGE TO HACIENDA CONCEPCION (L, D)
Welcome to one of the most luxurious lodge in the Peruvian Jungle
Early in the morning you will take the flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado (on your own). Our recommendation is to depart at 08:05 am and arrive at 10:45 am, to make the most out of your stay. Once you arrive to Puerto Maldonado we will pick you up to transfer you to the Inkaterra Lounge in the nearby town. There the staff of the lodge will welcome you and give you a short briefing to make your stay more comfortable. After that you will navigate on a motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River to the Hacienda Concepción Lodge (approximately 25 minutes).
After lunch you may walk through the Concepción Trails, the inside property nature trails, where you will discover and learn about the primary and secondary rainforests, their components, uses, transformations by human beings and their importance to the world.
At dusk take the Twilight River Excursion on the motorized canoe on the Madre de Dios River. During this activity you will learn about the river’s ecosystem, Amazonian creeks, nocturnal animal behavior and the southern hemisphere stellar constellation. In the evening enjoy a nice dinner in the dining room of the Casa Grande.

Day 2
TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE (B, BL, D)
Discover the incredible biodiversity that the Jungle has to offer
During the breakfast you will enjoy a variety of local products coming right out of the jungle. This is going to be another fascinating day because you will have the opportunity to get into the Tambopata National Reserve heading to Lake Sandoval. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is called the capital of biodiversity of Peru. The tour guide will talk about the Reserve’s conservation efforts and the lake’s formation. You will navigate on a dugout canoe across this mirror-like oxbow lake which is the habitat of the endangered giant river otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), the red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus), the paiche (Arapaima gigas), the blue and yellow macaw (Ara ararauna) and of one of the world’s biggest fresh water reptiles, the black caiman (Melanosuchus niger).
After your lunch back on the lodge you may want to go on another ride on the motorized canoe to the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway Interpretation Center. Its conservation and the construction will be shown by the tour guide. Go up on one of the two 98-ft towers (30 m) and cross the 7 hanging bridges that connect the treetops at 91 ft. (28 m.) above the ground. You will enjoy the unique views with the chance to spot white-throated toucans (Ramphastos tucanus), woodpeckers, trogons, squirrel monkeys (Saimiri boliviensis) and the three-toed sloth (Choleopus hoffmani).
After descending keep feeling the incredible primary rainforests energy while crossing the 200-meter wooden bridge over the aguajales swamps. The flora and fauna in this particular ecosystem is just spectacular.
You will participate in an excursion during the night, the “Hidden Rainforest Excursion”. There you will have a chance to see animals that display intriguing behavior patterns and enhanced senses as adaptation mechanisms. The jungle sounds of the living nature will surround you.

Day 3
TIME SAY GOODBYE AND TAKE YOUR FLIGHT! (B)
This morning you will be transferred by boat from the Hacienda Concepción Lodge to Puerto Maldonado, back to the Inkaterra Lounge (Butterfly House), where you will wait for your flight back home or to your next destination. You can take this opportunity to visit the beautiful butterfly house and learn about the fascinating transformation of these colorful insects, bred in a laboratory. Finally, you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight from Puerto Maldonado to Lima (or Cusco) (departing at 11:25 am and arriving at 14:15 pm).
